About the Author

Phia Damsma’s published work ranges from a popular series of recreational guides for families with children, to newspaper columns, and academic papers. She is co-founder of not-for-profit Sonokids and creative writer for the ‘Ballyland’ educational game apps that are used around the world by children with and without disability. For this work King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands has honoured Phia with a Knighthood in the Order of Oranje-Nassau. She was also recognised with an Honorary Fellowship of the University of Southern Queensland. Phia speaks seven languages and enjoys adding a touch of foreign culture to her “Padam” children’s books. She lives with her husband in Queensland, Australia. They share their home with their beloved and smart Australian kelpie. Phia hopes that the happy adventures of the admirable Monsieur Padam will inspire and enchant her young readers.
